Medical Terminology Flash Review
The Medical Terminology Flash Review Sessions are a series of hour-long study sessions designed to facilitate access to the University Library’s Flash card collections on reserve, including Mosby’s Medical Terminology Flash Cards, Exploring Medical Language, and Medical Terminology in a Flash! To keep students engaged the library provides snacks at each meeting. The University Library has teamed with the Director of Radiology to embed these sessions into her class each Fall, creating an opportunity for students to improve their knowledge of medical terminology before they begin clinicals. Held biweekly, the first three sessions allow students to work independently or to quiz each other on the cards in small groups, and the final session is a quiz bowl-style tournament, which gives the students a chance to put their new vocabularies to the test!
This event was presented by Catherine Dean. She is the Cataloger/ System Administrator at the University Library at Southern University at Shreveport; however, she wears many other hats, including the liaison for the Allied Health Sciences program at the Metro campus. She graduated with her MLIS from the University of Oklahoma, where she worked at the American Organ Institute Archives and Library, the Digital Latin Library, and the Carl Albert Center archives.
